Pijls Commits to Tennis
Brenau tennis announces the signing of Rebecca Pijls to the 2015-16 team.
Pijls is the daughter of Rita and Carl Pijls and a native of Beek, Netherlands. She is recognized as the top player in her province and was consistently ranked among the top-15 juniors in the Netherlands, including a high-ranking of #8. She won the Jeugdcup Maastricht championship twice and the Nike Junior Tour in the Netherlands. Pijls also peaked as the 84th best women's player in the Dutch national rankings.
When asked about her commitment to Brenau, the Dutch standout noted that, "Brenau is a good university with a great tennis team. In speaking to other women who studied there, they were all really positive about the University and the tennis program".
Head Coach Andre Ferreira said, "I enjoyed getting to know Rebecca and her family throughout the recruiting process and can't wait to see her on campus soon. She is both tennis and academic driven, which goes hand-in-hand with what our program stands for. She has a positive energy and good ambitions for her future. I am looking forward to working with Rebecca. "
Pijls is the second 2015-16 signee for the #10 ranked Golden Tigers tennis team.
