Tennis Sweeps #24 Reinhardt
The #16 Brenau tennis team rolled past #24 Reinhardt (Ga.) University 8-1 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Friday in Gainesville.
The Golden Tigers opened with a strong team effort as the squad swept all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. At #3 singles, Rebecca Pijls overwhelmed Reinhardt's Jamie Lunceford, 6-1, 6-1 for a 4-0 lead, then Maya Mammetgulyyeva ran past Albane Queinnec for a 6-2, 6-0 win at #4 singles to clinch the match for the Golden Tigers.
"We had a very good win this afternoon against a tough Reinhardt team," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "They are playing well and their team is deep, so this was a particularly important win for us."
