Tennis Defeats Montreat; Remains Unbeaten in AAC Play
Montreat, North Carolina- The #5 Brenau tennis team swept both doubles and singles play against Montreat College in Appalachian Athletic Conference competition on Thursday.
The Golden Tigers opened with two wins in doubles play as the #1 pairing of Juana Zambrano and Evelin Gouveia won 8-0, then Valentina Pabon and Kirsten Dickins also won by a score of 8-0 at #2 doubles.
In singles competition, Brenau allowed only one game point in five matches to remain undefeated in conference play. The host Cavaliers (0-3 overall, 0-3 AAC) did not compete in #3 doubles, nor #6 singles, thus forfeiting the matches.
"This was another important step for our team this season, especially in conference play," said head coach Andre Ferreira.
Brenau (5-3 overall, 4-0 AAC) next plays host to Milligan College (7-3 overall, 1-0 AAC) on Friday March 15 at 3 pm at the Lessie Smithgall Tennis Center.
