UTC Edges Past Tennis in Non-Conference Play

Chattanooga, Tennessee- The #8 Brenau tennis team lost a close 4-3 match to NCAA Division I Tennessee-Chattanooga in a non-conference matchup on Sunday.

At #1 singles, Golden Tigers' sophomore Elyse Lavender defeated UTC's Jessie Young, 6-4, 6-1, and at #3 Peeraya Charoensirisutthikul edged past Bogdana Zaporozhets, 4-6, 4-3, retired. The Mocs' responded with wins at the remaining singles matches.

In doubles play, the Golden Tigers had two outstanding performances as the pairing of Bianca Andersen and Evelin Gouveia defeated Callie Billman and Grace Anne Dunavant, 6-4, and then the duo of Elyse Lavender and Peeraya Charoensirisutthikul defeated Emma Van Hee and Caroline Gibbens (UTC) 7-5.

However at #2 doubles, Tennessee- Chattanooga's Jessie Young and Bogdana Zaporozhets narrowly defeated Brenau's Valentina Pabon and Juana Zambrano 7-5.

Brenau (2-1 overall, 1-0 AAC) next travels to the University of North Georgia on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
