Tennis Closes Regular Season with Two Non-Conference Matches
The #23 Brenau tennis team closed out regular season competition with matches against a pair of national powerhouses in Georgia Gwinnett College and Emory (Ga.) University this past week.
Against Emory University, the Golden Tigers struggled in doubles play and into singles play as the host Eagles swept a short-handed Brenau team 9-0.
In the Georgia Gwinnett match, the NAIA's #1 ranked team also swept both singles and doubles matches to win 7-0.
"I am glad we were able to play Emory and GGC this year," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "These are two of the top tennis programs in the country at the NAIA and NCAA III level. The proximity to Brenau's campus makes this an ideal opportunity for our team to face top notch competition."
Brenau (5-9 overall, 3-5 AAC) now waits to see if the squad qualifies for the 2021 NAIA Women's Tennis Championships, held from May 18-22nd in Mobile, Ala.
