#25 Tennis Falls to UNG in Non-Conference Competition

Dahlonega, Georgia- The #25 Brenau tennis team fell to the University of North Georgia 7-0 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday.

The Golden Tigers competed well against the nationally-ranked Nighthawks, but came up short as the squad opened with three losses in doubles play. The pairing of Valentina Pabon and Evelin Gouveia fell 6-4 to Johanna Lippert and Sveltana Teterina, while MaryWynn and Sally Brannon also lost 6-4. At #1 doubles, Brenau's Juana Zambrano and Bianca Andersen also lost a competitive match by a score of 6-3 to allow the hosts to take doubles.

In singles competition, MaryWynn Brannon had the best opportunity to secure a singles point by winning the opening set 7-6, but fell in the final two sets to North Georgia's Claudette Frey.

Brenau (1-2 overall, 1-0 AAC) next continues its rigorous conference slate with a trip to Emory (Ga.) University on Sunday for a 10 1m non-conference matchup.
