Tennis Defeats Reinhardt; Advances to AAC Semifinals

Chattanooga, Tennessee- The Brenau defeated Reinhardt (Ga.) University 4-2 in a nailbiter in the opening round of the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championships on Thursday.

The Golden Tigers struggled in doubles matches, but rallied to win four singles matches to advance to the semifinals. 

“We were able to play doubles outdoors at the Champions Club Tennis Complex,  but it rained right before we started singles, so the matches moved to the indoor tennis courts at the Baylor School,” said head coach Andre Ferreira.

 “We found ourselves down 0-1 after doubles play. Singles No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 put us in the lead 3-1, and junior Sally Brannon played a flawless match at singles No. 6 to defeat a tough Reinhardt opponent and clinch our victory 4-2.”

Brenau (10-8 overall, 7-3 AAC) advances to take on top seeded Tennessee Wesleyan (11-1 overall, 10-0 AAC) on Friday at 2 pm.
