Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau tennis team had a strong week of play as the squad defeated conference foe Johnson (Tn.) University 6-1 and Piedmont (Ga.) University 7-0 in a non-conference matchup.
The matches capped off a seven game winning streak for the Golden Tigers, who currently sit in sole possession of third place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) women's tennis standings.
Against Johnson (9-7 overall, 2-2 AAC), the squad swept doubles play to take the point and used the momentum to win five of the six singles matches to earn the team victory. The win secured the 3rd seed for the Golden Tigers in 2026 AAC Women's Tennis Championship tournament on April 20-22 in Chattanooga, Tn.
The Golden Tigers continued strong play against Piedmont (16-4 overall) by sweeping all matches for a clean sweep.
Brenau (10-4 overall, 7-2 AAC) finishes out the regular season on Tuesday when the squad plays host to non-conference opponent Georgia College and State University at 3:00 pm at the Lessie Smithgall Tennis Center.
