Indoor Track Places Fourth at 2026 AAC Championships; Kitson Earns Most Ourstanding Honors

Winston Salem, North Carolina- On the final day at the 2026 AAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Golden Tigers track and field teamfinished in fourth place with 116 points.
Sophomore Madison Kitson picked up two more victories at the meet winning both the Long Jump (5.73m / 18-9.75) and the 200m dash (25.53). Her four individual gold medals earned Kitson "Most Outstanding Athlete" of the meet honors.
Senior Jasmine Johnson had a stellar day as well, picking up gold in the 60m dash by running at time of 7.77 seconds, which is a new school record. She followed that outstanding performance by setting a new personal best in the long jump (5.16m / 16-11.25), which placed fourth at the championships.
In her first time ever running the event, Gladys Blanco Choque picked up the victory in the 3000m Race Walk.
The 4x800m relay team of Averie Akin, Kendall Goetzman, Victoria Woods, and De'Nya Reynolds got on the podium with a second place finish. The team's time of 10:06.28 set a new school record.
Other athletes helped to contribute to the point total as Gabbi Grant placed fourth and Taylor Knox finished seventh in the 60m hurdles and Kamryn Chambliss added points in the 200m dash finishing in eight place.
Milligan (Tn.) earned top team honors with 175 points, while Columbia scored 129 point to finish as the runner-up. Montreat (119 points), SCAD Atlanta (47 points), Columbia International (45), Reinhardt (42), Tennessee Wesleyan (39), Pikeville (16), Bryan (13), Spartanburg Methodist (12), and Union Commonwealth (5) round out the final standings.
