Tigers Dominate Inaugural Home Meet
The Brenau University Track and Field team hosted their inaugural home track meet this past weekend at the East Hall Community Center against Oglethorpe University (Ga.). The Golden Tigers had nineteen first place finishes in the meet.
Multiple event winners included Moneice Watson (Miami, Fla.) in the long jump, 100 hurdles and triple jump, Dierdre Duncan (Powder Springs, Ga.) in the shot put and 100 meter dash and Deishane' Honeycutt (Stone Mountain, Ga.) in the 400 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles.
Other first place finishers included: Snowie Saunders-high jump, Alexa Osterloh - javelin, Dana Cole - Hammer, Tyana Luna – Steeplechase, Dana Cole – Discus, Brittany Aikens - 5000 meter run, Lammy Sokunbi - 200 meter run, Jasmine Ray - 800 meter run, Alyssa Sale - 1500 meter run and Megan Dixon - pole vault.
"It was an excellent way to see where we are heading into the conference meet. Oglethorpe is a great school with a number of fierce competitors and we were very pleased to have them as part of our inaugural meet" commented Head Coach, Rick Ludwig.
The team travels to Rome, Ga. on Friday to compete in the SSAC Conference Championships. This will be the inaugural championship event for both the SSAC and Brenau University at the conference level. Competition will begin on Friday and will conclude on Saturday, April 27th. Details to follow.
