Track and Field Dominates Oglethorpe Invitational
At the Oglethorpe Invitational, the Brenau track and field team dominated as the Golden Tigers easily outpaced the competition in preparation for the SSAC Conference Meet.
Brenau finished with 282 points, while host Oglethorpe University finished in a distant second place with 114 points. Other competitors included West Georgia College, Concordia College-Selma (Ala.), Bob Jones (SC) University and Darton State (Ga.) College.
Individual first place finishers for the Golden Tigers include Lammy Sokunbi - 100 meter dash, Deishane' Honeycutt - 400 meter hurdles, Ismaelle Occeus -long jump Jasmine Jones -high jump and Hunter Creswell - pole vault.
Team first place finishers include the Sprint Medley Relay (Lammy Sokunbi, Cheyenne Wells, Anazjah Mayes and Deishane' Honeycutt), the Distance Medley Relay (Utami Ketchem, Jasmine Ray, Monika Nwajei and Natalie Williams) and the 4 x 400 Relay (Monika Nwajei, Amber Curney, Anazjah Mayes and Deishane' Honeycutt).
"It was an excellent opportunity to run against a number of small but competitive teams to get ready for conference," said head coach Rick Ludwig. "It was great to have all the family and friends there to support our team".
The Golden Tigers will have almost two weeks of intense preparation before the SSAC conference championships in at Gulf Shores, Alabama, April 25th- 26th.
