Track Has Excellent Showing At Susan Rouse Invitational
The Brenau track and field team had several excellent showings, including two new school records, at the Susan Rouse Invitational hosted by Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina on Saturday.
The meet featured seven teams and no team scoring, but allowed for the Golden Tigers to get strong competition late in the season.
Newcomer Elena Oslund (JR/Albany, Ga.) led the way with new school records in a first place finish in the 1,500 meter dash (5:00.66) and a second place finish in the 3,000 meter run (11:11). She also placed first in the 5,000 meter run in 18:56.
Aubrey Fearnow (JR/Arnoldsville, Ga.) also had a strong day, finishing second in the discus, second in the javelin and third in the hammer throw.
Jasmine Jones (SO/Atlanta, GA) had a pair of top-ten finishes with a second place finish in the high jump and a sixth place mark in the 100 meter hurdles.
Cheyenne Wells (SO/Sandy Springs, Ga.) also performed well as she finished third in the 200 meter dash, fourth in the 100 meter dash and eights in the 100 meter hurdles.

Andrea Holloway (SR/Newnan, Ga.) - 2nd - Hammer, 3rd Discus, 5th Javelin
Anazjah Mayes (SO/Lawrenceville, GA)- 4th - 400 hurdles
Monika Nwajei (SO/Dunwoody, Ga.) - 7th - 800 meter dash
Ismaelle Occeus (SO/Lawrenceville, Ga.) - 5th -long jump, 5th triple jump
Yasmine Reynolds (FR/Quitman, Ga.) - 4th - long jump
Jasmine Steen (JR/Columbus, Ga) - 6th - triple jump
Wells, Archer, Gearing and Jones also placed second in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
"We are all on a beeline for the conference championships," said head coach Rick Ludwig. "This was a very competitive meet which allowed us to set several new school records, but most importantly, to qualify more athletes for conference competition. I am very pleased to see so many team members working hard and getting ready to fight for conference."
Brenau next competes at the Oglethorpe Invitational on April 18th before defending their Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on April 24-25.
