Track Receives SSAC Postseason Honors
Members of the Brenau track and field team were honored as the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) announced the 2015 Women's Track and Field awards on Tuesday.
Dana Cole was chosen as the 2015 Field Athlete of the Year by the conference coaches. The junior is the reigning SSAC Field Athlete of the Year and was the 2013 Field Freshman Athlete of the Year. Cole won three events at the SSAC Championships, capturing titles in the hammer throw, the discus and the shot put.
Yasmine Reynolds was honored as the 2015 SSAC Track Freshman of the Year for her performance in the conference meet. The Quitman, Ga. native won the 200 meters in 24.74, finished second in the long jump, third in the 100 meter dash and was a member of the first place 4x100 relay team.
Head Coach Rick Ludwig was also named 2015 SSAC Coach of the Year for his team's performance. The Golden Tigers dominated the 2015 SSAC Championships by 244 points over second place William Carey (Miss.) University. This the third consecutive Coach of the Year award for Ludwig, who has won an SSAC Championship during each of his three seasons as head coach.
Hunter Creswell was also selected as the Brenau Champions of Character representative. The Calhoun, Ga. native was honored for best representing the NAIA Five Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.
Several Golden Tigers were also selected as All-Conference team members for their performances at the SSAC Championships. All-Conference winners include:

Aubrey Fearnow- shot put; hammer; javelin;

DeMichia Higgins- 100 meter hurdles;
Deishane' Honeycutt- 400 meters; 400 meter hurdles; 4x400 relay; 4x800 relay;
Jasmine Jones- high jump;
Tyana Luna- 3,000 meter steeplechase;
Anazjah Mayes- 400 meter hurdles;
Monika Nwajei- 4x400 relay;
Ismaelle Occeus- 4x100 relay;
Elena Oslund- 5,000 meters;
Jasmine Ray- 800 meters; 3,000 meter steeplechase; 4x800 relay;
Yasmine Reynolds- 100 meters; 200 meters; 4x100 relay; long jump;
Olamide Sokunbi-100 meters; long jump; triple jump;
Cheyenne Wells- 200 meters; 4x100 relay;
The Golden Tigers also had 11 team members make the All-Academic team. Team members must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have been enrolled in at least four semesters in college.
All-Academic team members include Brittany Aikens, Aunica Clinton, Aubrey Fearnow, Utami Ketchem, Kayla Madsen, Monika Nwajei, Ismaelle Occeus, Sarah Quintero, Olamide Sokunbi, Eva Williams and Natalie Williams.
