Track Heads to NAIA National Championship Meet

The Brenau track team will compete at the 36th Annual 2016 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from May 26-28th at Mickey Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Fresh off their fourth straight Southern States Athletic Conference Championship, eight members of their squad now set their sights on the national championships.

Senior Deishane Honeycutt will compete in four different events-the 400 meter dash, 400 meter hurdles, 4 x 100 relay and the 4 x 400 relay. Competing along with Honeycutt on both relay teams includes Ayana Daniels, Nia Griffin, Anazjah Mayes, Ismaelle Occeus and Cheyenne Wells.

Olamide Sokunbi will also be competing in the 100 meter dash and the triple jump as well as on the 4 x 100 relay team.

Dana Cole will also make her second appearance at the national championships in the discus throw. The senior previously competed in 2015.
