Track Competes at Birmingham Southern Indoor Meet
At the Birmingham Southern College Icebreaker indoor track meet, members of the Brenau track team showed well against competition from across the southeast.
In a field that included teams from NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA, Brenau placed 18th out of 45 teams at the meet.
While competing in the non-NCAA Division I category, the Golden Tigers earned multiple top-fifteen finishes against comparable competition.
The 4x400 team of Cheyenne Wells, Nia Griffin, Ayana Daniels and Monika Nwajei placed sixth in 4:04.72, which was a mere one second off national qualifying time.
Wells also had a strong day individually, placing fifth in the 60 meter dash (7:99) and twelfth in the 200 meter dash (26:42).
Ismaelle Occeus also had a standout day, placing seventh in the long jump (4.96m), thirteenth in the 400 meter dash (1:02.80), ninth in the triple jump (10.18m) and eleventh in the 60 meter hurdles (10:36).
In the 800 meter run, Nia Griffin earned a ninth place finish in 2:31.62, while teammate Nwajei placed tenth in 2:36.33.

Elizabeth Lowe, nineteenth in the 400 meter dash (1:15.47);
Sydney Romine, sixth in the 60 meter hurdles (9:63); tenth in the long jump (4.77m);

Kierra Thomas, tenth in the 60 meter hurdles (10:16); fifteenth in high jump (1.35m);
