Track Shows Well At Emory Invitational
The Brenau track and field team placed 19th out of 47 teams in a highly competitive field at the Emory Invitational hosted by Emory (Ga.) University this past weekend in Atlanta, Ga.
"I am proud of the way we competed," said head coach Byron Kramer of his team's early season performance. "We are developing well as a team."
Ismaelle Occeus led the Golden Tigers with three excellent finishes at the meet. The senior placed fifth in the long jump (5.41m), 12th place in the triple jump (10.78m) and 23rd place in the 200 meters (27:04).
Fellow senior Cheyenne Wells also had a strong day individually with a sixth place in the 100 meters (12.38).
The squad also had three top-20 finishes in the pole vault as Ayana Daniels (9th place, 3.07m), Haley Gill 16th place, (2.81m) and Anita Button, 17th place, (2.62m) each performed well.
In the relays, the 4x400 relay of Wells, Nia Griffin, Monika Nwajei and Iman Williams placed third out of 30 teams with a time of 3:59.51.

Anazjah Mayes, 19th place, 400 meter hurdles, 1:10.12;
Kayla Mitchell, 12th place, javelin throw, 30.57m;
Sydney Romine, 20th place, 400 meter hurdles, 1:10.60;
Iman Williams, 20th place, 400 meter dash, 59.98;
4x800 meter relay of Monika Nwajei, Nia Griffin, Elizabeth Lowe and Ayana Daniels , 10th place, 10:32.10;
The team returns to the track at the Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Alabama on March 24th and 25th.
