Track Receives SSAC Postseason Honors
Members of the Brenau track and field team were honored by the Southern States Athletic Conference for their performances on the track and in the classroom, the conference announced on Wednesday.
All-Conference selections are based on their respective finishes at the SSAC Championships last week in Mobile, Alabama.
Ayana Daniels (pole vault), Nia Griffin (800 meters), Sydney Haas (hammer throw), Sydney Romine (100 hurdles) and Iman Williams (400 meters) each earned first team honors by virtue of their first place finishes.
Each of the first team members also earned other awards as Daniels was a second-team selection as a member of the 4x800 relay, while Griffin earned second-team recognition for both the 4x400 (second team) and 4x800 relay teams. Haas earned a second-team shotput nod, while Iman Williams earned second (4x400 relay) and third team (4x100 relay) honors. Williams also helped the 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams to second and third place finishes respectively.
Additionally, Sydney Romine earned a third-team spot for her finish in the 400 hurdles and was also chosen as the team's Musco Lighting Champions of Character recipient for best representing the NAIA's Five Core Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

Elizabeth Lowe, second team, 4 x 800 relay;
Anazjah Mayes, second team, 400 hurdles;
Monika Nwajei, second team, 4 x 400 relay and 4 x 800 relay;
Ismaelle Occeus, second team, triple jump; third team, 4 x 100 relay and long jump;
Alisa Sanford, second team, high jump; third team, triple jump;
Michelle Velazquez, third team, 10,000 meters;
Cheyenne Wells, second team, 400 meters, 100 meter hurdles, 4x400 relay; Third Team: 4 x 100 relay;
Additionally, Anita Button, Ayana Daniels, Monika Nwajei, Ismaelle Occeus, Haley Gill, Felicia Gordon and Aunica Clinton were named as SSAC All-Academic team members for their academic successes. Award winners must maintain a cumulative 3.25 minimum grade point average and be enrolled in at least four semesters of college.
