Golden Tigers Compete At AAC Indoor Championships
The Brenau track team placed fifth at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Championships this past weekend in Winston Salem, NC..
The squad totaled 85.5 points, including an individual championship from pole-vaulter Ayana Daniels.
Daniels soared to a mark of 2.60 meters to edge past Union College vaulter Reanna Elswick to claim the team's only first-place finish. Daniels also placed seventh in the 60 hurdles in 10.29.
In the triple jump, freshman Destiny Gaudlock earned a second place finish with a leap of 10.27 meters, while fellow freshman Miya Neal jumped 5.13 meters in the long jump to capture second place as well. Neal continued her strong day with a fourth place finish in the 60-meters in 8.07 seconds and a third place finish in the 60 hurdles in 9.63.
In the relays, the 4 x 400 team of Elizabeth Lowe, Keri Ashworth, Gloria Clark and Nia Griffin earned third place in a time of 10:34.58.

Bianca Braz, sixth place, 3000 meters, 11:41.42;
Anita Button, fourth place, pole vault, 2.45m;
Deborah Ekeanyanwu, fourth place, 400 meters, 1:04.90;
Nia Griffin, second place, 600 meters, 1:41.78;
Deeanna Joseph, eighth place, shot put, 9.87m; eighth place, weight throw, 11.74m;
Tatyiana McClendon, fourth place, triple jump, 10.15m;
Jasmine Reese, fifth place, 60-meter dash, 8.08 seconds; sixth place, 200 meters, 27.18;
Columbia College captured the team honors with 146 points, while Milligan College (113), Union College (112.5) and Tennessee Wesleyan College (106) rounded out the top four finishes.
The team next competes at the Montevallo Classic from March 23-25 in Montevallo, Alabama.
