Track Places Fourth at Montevallo Classic
The Brenau track and field team placed fourth at the Montevallo Falcon Track and Field Classic hosted by the University of Montevallo this past weekend.
After a strong day one at the Classic, day two highlighted several outstanding performances, including some by the newest Golden Tigers.
Freshman Tatyiana McClendon led the Golden Tigers with a second place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.29m and teammate and fellow freshman Destiny Gaudlock finished a close third with a leap of 10.10m. Gaudlock also placed third in the javelin with a throw of 33.38m.
Freshman Myia Neal had a strong performance in the long jump with a distance of 5.41 meters to place third overall, while freshman Deborah Ekeanyanwu continued the strong performances by capturing ninth place honors in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.84.
The Golden Tigers also had a solid day in the throws as Cameron Mims threw 10.89 meters to earn fourth place in the shot put. Teammate Sydney Haas continued her strong weekend by placing seventh in the shot put with a throw of 10.40m and ninth place in the discus (29.73m).
Brenau amassed 75.5 points to earn fourth place at the twelve-team meet. Host Montevallo captured the top spot with 166 points, while William Carey University (122) and Millsaps (79.50) rounded out the top three finishers.
The team next competes at the Emory Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Atlanta.
