Track Places Second at Montevallo Falcon Classic
Montevallo, Ala. – The Brenau track team used five first place finishes to capture second overall place at the Montevallo Falcon Track and Field Classic this past weekend.
Individual first place finishers for the Golden Tigers include Ayana Daniels, pole vault (3.07m), Tamia Francis 200 meter dash (25.04) , Tatyiana McClendon, triple jump (10.84m) and Shakera Thompson, 100 meter dash (12.36). The 4 x 100 relay team also placed first in 47.70. Daniels also added a fourth place finish in the heptathlon with 3459 points.
Francis had a standout day in other events as well, notching a third place finish in the high jump (1.47m) and fourth place in the long jump (4.89m). Fellow freshman TyLeeah Maddox added a second place finish in the high jump (1.57m) and a fourth place nod in the triple jump (10.09m).
Cameron Mims also had a strong all around day in the throws, placing second place in the shot put (11.75m), fourth place in the hammer throw (37.34m) and eleventh place in the javelin (26.50m).
Myia Neal also had a solid day with a second place finish in the long jump (5.12m), an eleventh place finish in the 200 meters (26.94) and a sixth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (16.42).

Shannon Hoolahan, eighth place, 5000 meter run (19:42.90);
Chloe Ireland, eighth place, discus (27.74m);
Deeanna Joseph, fifth place, discus (35.50m);
Cassidi Jones, fifth place, pole vault (2.32m); ninth place, long jump (4.43m);
Jane Lester, ninth place, shot put (10.10 m); eleventh place, discus (28.20m);
The team amassed 146.5 points to place second behind host Montevallo University (162 points). Spring Hill College (114 points), Tuskegee University (81.5 points) and Birmingham Southern University (63 points) rounded out the top five team finishers.
