Track Performs Well at Rams Invitational

Columbia, South Carolina- The Brenau track and field team had an outstanding showing against a strong field of teams at the Rams College Invitational this past weekend.

The squad had a strong day in relays as the 4x400 team of Myia Neal, Kiyah Pittmon, Kayland Thomason and Tatyiana McClendon won first place with a time of 4.14.55.

The 4x100 team of Myia Neal, Tatyiana McClendon, Kiyah Pittmon and Tamia Francis finished in second place in 48.79.

Individually, Francis led the Golden Tigers with wins in the 100 meters (12.04) and 200 meters (24.64). Francis also added a fifth place finish in the long jump (5.42m) and an eleventh place in the high jump (1.42m)

The squad also had a host of second place finishes in the meet as Mitchel Alex (triple jump, 11.13m), TyLeeah Maddox, (heptathlon, 3337 points), Tatyiana McClendon (javelin, 34.94m), Cameron Mims, (shot put, 11.97m) and Angelica Richards (hammer throw, 42.33 m) all had outstanding performances.

Other top finishers include:

Jayda Burkett, 100 hurdles, seventh place, 17.01;

Katherine Fourie, fifth place, javelin, 30.68m;

Samantha Glover, sixth place, heptathlon, 1607 points;

Talara Harper, long jump, tenth place, 5.13m; 100 meters, sixth place, 12.64;

Cassidy Hunter, pole vault, fifth place, 2.78m;

Deeanna Joseph, 14th place, hammer throw, 33.33m;

Jailyn Kendrick, seventh place, hammer throw, 37.55m;

Tatyiana McClendon, 14th place, triple jump, 10.04m;

Cameron Mims, eighth place, hammer throw, 36.88m;

Angelica Richards, eleventh place, shot put, 9.99m;

Skylar Simon, third place, heptathlon, 2536 points;

Kayland Thomason, 400 meters, tenth place, 1:01.16;

The team next hits the track at the Montreat Invitational on March 26th and 27th.
