Golden Tigers Start Fast at 2025 AAC Track and Field Championships
The Brenau track and field team started well on the opening day of the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) championships on Friday.
Freshman Jenna Coucoules led the charge by winning the high jump with a leap of 1.60 meters. Fellow freshman Gabrielle Grant also showed well in her first championship meet by placing third in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.95.
Additionally, the 4x800 relay team of Averie Akin, Victoria Woods, Madi McMahan and Kamille Dixon had an excellent showing by placing third with a time of 10:24.96.
Other Golden Tigers finishers include freshman Re'Yanna Ellis-Pickett, who placed 8th in the 400 hurdles, (1:17.61), freshman Taylor Knox, who finished in 9th place in the 400 hurdles (1:21.04) and junior Jasmine Johnson, who took 12th place in javelin (24.77 meters).
The Golden Tigers sit in first place with 27 points after day one of competition. Reinhardt (Ga.) University (27 points), Columbia International (SC) University (22 points), Truett McConnell (Ga.) University (20 points) and Tennessee Wesleyan University (18 points) round out the top five teams.
Competition will continue on Friday morning.
