Outdoor Track Opens at Emory Thrills in Hills Meet
Atlanta, Georgia- The Brenau track and field team opened the outdoor track season with a strong showing at the Emory Thrills in the Hills meet, hosted by Emory (Ga.) University this weekend.
Sophomore Madison Kitson ran a personal best time of 24.50 in the 200m dash. She currently sits 1st in the AAC in the event and is only 0.01 seconds from the qualifying standard for the NAIA outdoor national championships. In the long jump, Madison Kitson opened up her outdoor campaign with a third place finish jumping to a mark of 5.61m (18-4.75). Kitson, who is coming off a 6th place finish at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships just two weeks ago, is currently ranked second in the AAC in the event.
Kitson joined teammates Kamryn Chambliss, Ja'Leyah Wongus, and Kyla Laurent to race to an overall sixth place finish in the 4x400m relay in a time of 4:04.91. That time is also a leading mark in the AAC.
In their first ever collegiate steeplechase race, freshman Kendall Goetzman and junior Madi McMahan finished 10th and 11th respectively. Goetzman's 14:13.29 and McMahan's 14:18.92 are both AAC qualifying times and conference leading marks currently.
Day two saw a continuance of solid performances by the Golden Tigers as junior Jerrica Bryant picked up a sixth place finish in the women's shot put. Her mark of 12.34m (40-5.75) ranks second in the AAC. Bryant also showed well in the discus with a mark of 31.32m (102-9), which is ranked 12th in the conference.
