Brenau Wins Aramark Classic Tournament

Due West, SC- The Brenau volleyball team picked up three more wins today at the Aramark Classic Tournament held at Erskine, SC. Seniors Karen Green and Audra VanArsdale were named to the All-Tournament Team with Green being selected as Most Valuable Player. The Tigers opened the day with a quick three game win over Converse, SC by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-15. VanArsdale had 28 assists, five blocks and three digs and Green collected 11 kills, seven receptions, six digs and four blocks.Maida Smajic had 16 receptions and 12 digs and Alexis Arthur had 10 kills and three digs. Next up for the Tigers was North Greenville, SC and another sweep 25-19, 25-19 and 25-18. Freshman Macy Baugh had six kills and three blocks and Kelsey Aley came up with six blocks, four kills and three digs. Green had 13 kills, Courtney Frady had nine digs to go with four kills, and VanArsdale amassed another 34 assists. Kerry Abernathy and Smajic had 11 digs apiece. The last game of the day was another story as Erskine gave Brenau all they wanted before succumbing 25-16, 23-25, 11-25, 25-21 and 15-12. Green broke her own school record in this one, coming up with 25 kills to go with 21 receptions and 12 digs. VanArsdale had 50 assists, seven digs and five kills and Smajic had 31 receptions and 18 digs. Arthur (13 kills), Baugh (six kills and six blocks), Aley (five kills and seven blocks), Frady (seven kills) and Abernathy (13 receptions) also helped out in the win. Brenau travels to Berry for a non-conference match next Tuesday before returning home for SSAC action Thursday and Friday against Faulkner and Lee.
