Tigers Drop Two at Francis Marion Invitational

Florence, SC - The Brenau volleyball team wrapped up their second tournament in two weeks today, dropping two matches at the Francis Marion Invitational. In the first outing of the day, Carson Newman, TN won in four games, 15-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-17, and the host school swept the Tigers in the nightcap 25-12, 28-26, 25-19.
Sophomore Libero Danelle Russell (Cartersville) had an outstanding day, totaling 27 digs and Junior Outside Hitter Alexis Arthur continued her strong play, coming up with 12 kills and 21 digs. Setter Mekenna Cipres had 26 assists in the two matches and Senior Courtney Frady had 11 kills.
"The schedule has been very difficult and our mistakes have been magnified because of the level of the teams we have played. There have been times when we play very well, but we just aren't consistent and we aren't finishing games. Our mental toughness has been tested and now we will see if these two weeks will pay off," said Coach Meredith Franklin.
After nine consecutive games on the road against quality opponents, the Tigers will finally open the home portion of the schedule when they face off with Berry on Tuesday night at 7 pm.
