Brenau Volleyball Drops Home Opener

Gainesville, Ga - The Brenau volleyball team played their first match at home tonight after nine straight road outings and played a thriller with Berry College that went the full five games. The visitors prevailed by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-14, 21-25, 15-9. The match was close throughout with momentum shifting back and forth all night. Junior outside hitter Alexis Arthur played an outstanding match with 14 digs and 13 kills.

Sophomore Danelle Russell had a whopping 54 receptions with 18 digs and Melissa Thornton played well with 10 digs and nine kills. Setters Kerry Abernathy and Mekenna Cipres had 18 and 16 assists respectively while Meredith Hardin and Kelsey Aley had six blocks apiece.

"We are constantly proving that we can play with the team we are competing against only to play timidly when the game is on the line. We need to play all out at those times and then the wins will come," said Head Coach Meredith Franklin.

Brenau will travel to Montgomery, Al this weekend to compete in the SSAC Crossover Tournament at Faulkner University.
