Brenau Volleyball Falls To Faulkner
The Brenau Golden Tigers volleyball team lost in three sets to SSAC opponent Faulkner on Tuesday night 25-18, 25-23, 25-16.
Leaders for the Golden Tigers on offense were Ellen Lemos (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Pam Konken (Stockbridge, GA) each with 10 kills, Marcella Toups (Morris, IL) with 7 kills and Allie Smith (Pace, FL) with 5 kills. Bailey Hicks (Buford, GA) ran the offense and accumulated 32 assists.
Defensively, Lindsay Kelly (Cumming, GA) had 14 digs, Hicks had 12 digs, Konken had 9 digs, and Smith added 1.5 blocks.
Costly mistakes hurt the Golden Tigers, who accrued twice as many hitting errors as the Eagles and could not get the offense going on the right track.
"Tonight's performance was not indicative of how we can play. Faulkner forced us into making a lot of errors and we need to work hard to correct them in the future," said head coach Jeff White. "The SSAC has good competitive balance and every team can beat each other on any given night. Tonight was not our night."
The loss dropped Brenau to 5-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The Golden Tigers compete this weekend against non-conference opponents at the Emory Invitational beginning with Lynchburg College at 2:30pm on Friday.
