Golden Tigers Volleyball Takes Down Dalton State
The Brenau University volleyball team bounced back with a solid road win against Dalton State University, 25-20, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-15.
Ellen Lemos (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Pam Konken (Stockbridge, GA) each had double-digit kills with 12 and 11 respectively. Alex Mariona (Simpsonville, SC) had 6 kills, Marcella Toups (Morris, IL) had 5 kills and Allie Smith (Pace, FL) added 3 kills to round out the scoring. Bailey Hicks (Buford, GA) and Chelsea Foster (Roswell, GA) ran the offense equally well with 27 combined assists.
Defensively, Lindsay Kelly (Cumming, GA) added 15 digs while Hicks (Buford, GA) had 10 digs to dominate the back row. Lemos controlled the net with 2.5 blocks and helped hold Dalton State's leading scorer, Alayne Bianchi, to only 7 kills and a 0.000 attack percentage.
"Considering the tough stretch that we just endured, a win is exactly what we needed," said head coach Jeff White. "We hope to use this positive experience as we re-enter conference play this weekend."
The Golden Tigers travel to Mobile, AL this weekend to resume SSAC play when they face the University of Mobile on Friday night at 8:30 eastern and Spring Hill College on Saturday at 12 pm eastern.
