Volleyball Drops Two Conference Matches
The Brenau University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches this weekend, losing to both University of Mobile and Spring Hill (AL) College, 3-0.
Against Mobile, Ellen Lemos (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led all scorers with 13 kills, followed by Pam Konken (Stockbridge, GA) with 6 kills, Marcella Toups (Morris, IL) with 5 kills and Rachel Adam (Athens, GA) with 4 kills. Courtney Deason (Pensacola, FL) ran an efficient offense with 23 assists and contributed 8 digs as well. Defensively, Lindsay Kelly (Cumming, GA) contributed 9 kills, while Chelsea Foster (Roswell, GA), Konken and Lemos each added 4 digs. Lemos also had 2.5 blocks while Allie Smith (Pace, FL) had 1.5 blocks.
On Saturday against the SSAC first place, Spring Hill (AL) College, Ellen Lemos continued her offensive dominance with 13 kills and 1 service ace. Pam Konken had 3 kills and Rachel Adam and Marcella Toups added 2 kills. Konken also added 8 digs, followed by Lemos with 7 and Foster and Deason with 6 each.
"While our team is playing better, we are competing against very good teams. We are adjusting and improving every match," said head coach Jeff White. "Hopefully, we will qualify for the Conference Tournament and get another chance at the teams that have beaten us over the last two weeks."
The Golden Tigers go back on the road on Monday as they travel to Montgomery to face conference opponent Faulkner (AL) University at 7:00 pm (CST).
