Golden Tigers Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight
The Brenau University volleyball team concluded its conference schedule with a victory against conference opponent Bethel (Tn.) University, 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 25-17.
Solid ball control and excellent serving propelled the Golden Tigers past the Wildcats in four sets. The team was led by Ellen Lemos (16 kills, 12 digs, 3 blocks), Pam Konken (12 kills, 10 digs, 2 assists), and Rachel Adam (10 kills, 5 digs, 4.5 blocks). Setter Bailey Hicks (Buford, Ga.) finished the match with 35 assists, while contributing nine digs on the defensive end.
After starting strongly by winning the first set 25-19, the Golden Tigers struggled in the second set, committing 11 hitting errors and losing, 20-25. However, the team was able to pull themselves together and win a hotly contested third set, 27-25, before finishing off the Wildcats in the fourth set in convincing fashion, 25-17.
"I am so proud of how our team has really turned this season around after a shaky start," said head coach Jeff White. We are on a five-match win streak and are peaking just in time for the conference tournament."
The Golden Tigers' next match is at home against Dalton (Ga.) State College on Thursday, October 31 at 7:00 pm.
