Volleyball Rolls Past Milligan
On Dig Pink night for Breast Cancer Awareness, the Brenau volleyball team weathered a first set loss to rally to a 3-1 win (17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19) over Milligan (Tenn.) College on Thursday in Gainesville.
In the first set, the Golden Tigers couldn't find their rhythm as the Buffaloes easily won the first set 17-25.
The Golden Tigers jumped out to a commanding 17-11 lead in the second set and withstood a rally to capture the set 25-22 and even the match 1-1.
The third set was close throughout with both teams staying within a three point margin. With the match 22-22, Brenau secured the final three points to take a 2-1 advantage into the fourth set.
After a 9-9 tie in the early part of the fourth set, the Golden Tigers used a strong attack to finish the match 25-19 and notch their 10th win of the season.
Brenau was led by Sydney Koon who contributed 12 digs and 17 digs, while Rachel Adam added 10 digs. Chelsea Foster and Bailey Hicks combined for 35 assists for the Golden Tigers' attack. Lindsay Kelly added 17 digs, while Cayla Graham chipped in 10 digs. Devony Hemingway had a .375 attack percentage to lead the Golden Tigers.
Brenau (10-8, 5-4 SSAC) will take a week off from match play to prepare for a return to SSAC play when the team hosts University of Mobile (Ala.) on October 17th at 7 pm.
