Volleyball Wins Two Over The Weekend
With three games on the slate over the weekend, the Brenau volleyball team lost the opening match to the University of Mobile (Ala.), but rallied to defeat Loyola (La.) University and Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College.
Against Mobile, the Golden Tigers lost 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 24-26) for their ninth loss of the season.
Brenau was outhit .208 to .112 in attack percentage and was unable to close the gap in the first and third sets.
Sydney Koon led the Golden Tigers with 10 kills, while Rachel Adam and Cayla Graham added eight and six kills respectively.
In game two of the SSAC doubleheader, the Golden Tigers defeated Loyola 3-1 (25-19, 25-16, 18-25, 25-18) to capture their 11th overall and sixth conference win.
Brenau held Loyola to a 0.049 attack percentage and improved their percentage to .219.
Adam led the way with 16 kills, while Koon added 14 kills and 15 digs. Defensive specialist Lindsay Kelly added 13 digs.
Against non-conference Truett-McConnell, the Golden Tigers used a strong attack to sweep the match 3-0 (25-23, 25-10, 25-19).
Adam again led the Golden Tigers' attack with 12 kills, while Graham added 10. Bailey Hicks and Pam Konken combined for 30 assists in the win.
Brenau (12-9, 6-5 SSAC) next travels on Tuesday to Dalton, Ga. to face SSAC newcomer Dalton State College for a 7 pm match.
