Volleyball Drops Two in SSAC Play
The Brenau volleyball team dropped two SSAC matches as the Golden Tigers fell to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College and Bethel (Tenn.) University in Gainesville.
Against Martin Methodist, the Golden Tigers dropped the first set, but rallied to even the match with a 25-22 second set win. In the third set, Martin Methodist slipped by 25-21, and then used a late rally to clinch the final set 26-24.
Senior Sydney Koon led the Golden Tigers with 19 kills, while sophomore Cayla Graham added 16 kills. Setter Bailey Hicks had 42 assists, while Tiffany Ozieh chipped in a team-high three blocks.
In the second game, Brenau started off quickly, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22, but faded in the final three sets, 17-25, 19-25, 10-15.
Koon and Graham combined for 31 kills, while Hicks added a career-high 44 assists. Freshman Carlee Praznik added a team-high 14 digs.
"We played well over the weekend, especially in light of having two starters missing," said head coach Michael Carter. "Both teams (Martin Methodist and Bethel) had just a little too much firepower."
Brenau (5-6, 0-2 SSAC) next hosts Faulkner (Ala.) University in an SSAC matchup on Monday at 7 pm eastern in Gainesville.
