Volleyball Drops a Pair of SSAC Matches
The Brenau volleyball team lost a pair of Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) matches over the weekend as the Golden Tigers fell to University of Mobile (Ala.) and Loyola (La.) University.
On Friday, Brenau pushed the first set to 28-26, but were unable to close the gap in the final two sets, losing 25-17 and 25-16.
"The girls played with a lot of heart and energy," said head coach Michael Carter. "But Mobile was just a little too strong for us."
"We lost in three sets, but had opportunities and leads midway through each set."
Senior Sydney Koon led the Golden Tigers with 15 kills and 13 digs. Bailey Hicks added 25 assists.
Against Loyola, the Golden Tigers dropped the first two sets 20-25, but rallied to take the third set 25-23. In the fourth set, Brenau stayed close, but couldn't hold on, losing 22-25.
Koon led the Golden Tigers with 17 kills, while Cayla Graham added 12. Hicks led with 34 assists.
Brenau (5-9, 0-5 SSAC) hosts SSAC member Dalton State (Ga.) College on Tuesday at 7 pm eastern in Gainesville.
