Volleyball Slips Past Dalton State

The Brenau volleyball team made clutch plays in the final three sets to sneak by Dalton State (Ga.) College in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup on Tuesday in Gainesville.

After narrowly losing the first set 22-25, the Golden Tigers rallied in the second set to even the match with a 25-23 win.

In the third set, Dalton State rallied to close the gap to 24-23, but Brenau held off the visiting Roadrunners for a 2-1 lead.

The final set was a back and forth battle with neither team seizing control. Brenau edged ahead at 20-19 and closed the match at 25-23.

Cayla Graham led the Golden Tigers with 12 kills, while Sydney Koon added 11. Carlee Praznik added 15 digs, while Bailey Hicks notched 21 assists in the win.

Brenau (6-9 overall, 1-5 SSAC) hosts non-conference opponent Reinhardt (Ga.) University on Wednesday at 6:30 pm in Gainesville.
