Volleyball Struggles In SSAC Play
The Brenau volleyball team lost a pair of Southern States Athletic Conference matches over the weekend as the Golden Tigers fell to both Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College and Bethel (Tenn.) University 3-1.
Against Martin Methodist, the Golden Tigers pushed the first set to the limit, but were unable to secure the win, losing 26-28. After dropping the second set 19-25, Brenau got back on track with a 25-16 third set win. However, the RedHawks pulled away with a decisive 15-25 win in the fourth set to clinch the match.
Sydney Koon notched a game-high 21 kills, while Pam Konken added 35 assists.
On Saturday, Brenau again lost the first two sets, only to rally in the third set for a 25-19 win. But the Golden Tigers failed to hold the momentum, losing the final set 22-25.
Koon again led the Golden Tigers with 10 kills and 16 digs against Bethel.
Brenau (8-13 overall, 2-8 SSAC) next travels to non-conference Milligan (Tenn.) College on October 13th for a 7:00 match.
