Wilbanks Commits to Volleyball
Brenau volleyball announces the signing of Savannah Wilbanks to the 2016-17 team.
Wilbanks is a native of Adairsville, Georgia and the daughter of Tonya and Jerry Wilbanks. During her standout career at Sonoraville High School, Wilbanks was a GHSA AAA All-State performer, First-Team All-Region team member and was selected as a Chattanooga Times Best of Prep performer.
A varsity starter and two-year team captain, Wilbanks also helped lead her squad to four straight region titles, three AAA Elite Eight appearances and one AAA Final Four. She holds school records for both assists in a season (837) and assists per match average (16.74) and was also ranked first in assists in a season and assists per set in class AAA.
Outside of her high school team, Wilbanks also played club volleyball for Prolink Volleyball Club and head coach Chris James.
"Savannah is a highly sought-after recruit who, as a setter familiar with our system, will be able to make an immediate impact for the volleyball team," said head coach Michael Carter. "We are all thrilled to welcome not just a talented player, but a great person and teammate to the Brenau family."
Wilbanks, who plans on majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy at Brenau, said about her recruitment: "I'm super excited to play for such a great school, coach, and teammates. I'm glad to call myself a Golden Tiger!"
Wilbanks is the first signee for the 2016-17 class as Brenau returns eleven letter winners to the 2016-17 team.
