Volleyball Slips Against Columbia International
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team lost 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 13-25, 16-25) to Columbia International University in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Tuesday.
After a very competitive first set loss, the Golden Tigers responded in the second set as the squad led the entire set, cruising to a 25-20 victory to even the match.
However, the team's momentum did not carry over into the third set as the Rams jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead. Brenau rallied as a service ace by Sydney Norton cut the lead to 6-5, but Columbia International (6-9 overall, 2-3 AAC) answered with a 10-2 run to pull away to a 25-13 win.
In the fourth set, Nicole Ighile started the match with one of her eight kills, but the Rams' offense proved to be too much for the Golden Tigers defense as the visitors closed out the match 25-16 to capture their sixth win of the season.
Brenau (1-15 overall, 0-6 AAC) next travels to Toccoa Falls College (11-5 overall) on Wednesday for a 7 pm non-conference matchup.
