Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to St. Andrews

Gainesville, Georgia-The Brenau volleyball team pushed St. Andrews College to five sets, but came up short in Appalachian Athletic Conference competition on Wednesday.

The Golden Tigers won the first two sets (25-22, 25-21) for a quick two set lead. However, the visiting Knights rallied to win the third and fourth sets, 25-20 and 25-11, to even the match. In the fifth set, St. Andrews held momentum and escaped with a 15-10 victory to clinch the victory.

Lanier Leonard led the Golden Tigers with a season-high 13 kills, while Rachel Hodges and MacKenzie Kirby each added 10 kills. Sydney Norton had 25 assists and Nitaira Wilkes added 17 assists. Defensively, Kayleigh Reece posted 16 digs in the match.

Brenau (2-23 overall, 1-13 AAC) begins a three-day road conference slate on Friday with a match against Milligan College (19-4 overall, 12-2 AAC) at 6:30 pm in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
