Volleyball Wraps Up Play at Running Eagles Classic
Marietta, Georgia- On the final day of competition at the Running Eagles Classic, the Brenau volleyball team lost matches to Southeastern (Fla.) University (16-25, 14-25, 13-25) and Life (Ga.) University (18-25, 18-25, 18-25) on Saturday.
In a rematch from earlier in the season, the Golden Tigers couldn't quite put enough offense together to defeat Southeastern (6-2 overall) as the Fire posted a .215 to .000 attack advantage.
Sophomore outside hitter MacKenzie Kirby led Brenau with six kills, while junior libero Jordan Diaz added 15 kills in the match. Senior setter Nitaira Wilkes contributed a season high 16 assists.
Against host Life University (7-2 overall), Brenau consistently pushed the Running Eagles, but were unable to seize control of the match.
Kirby against posted a team-high seven kills, while freshman middle Annabeth Vandiver notched six kills. Defensively, Diaz led with 21 digs and Kirby also added 16 digs.
Brenau (0-8) next faces conference foe Columbia (S.C.) College (0-4 overall) in the home opener at 6:30 pm in Gainesville.
