Volleyball Drops Two in AAC Road Play
The Brenau volleyball team struggled in losses against Tennessee Wesleyan University (18-25, 23-25, 8-25) and Bryan College (13-25, 24-26, 22-25) this past weekend in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
Against Tennessee Wesleyan, the Golden Tigers pushed hard against the host Bulldogs in the first two sets but could not gain control in the final set to take the loss. Tennessee Wesleyan outhit Brenau with a .227 to 0.010 attack percentage and held a 35 to 20 kill advantage in the match.
In the second match of the road trip, Brenau played well in the final two sets against Bryan, but came up just short against the Lions.
During the second set, a service error by Jaleigh Rogan allowed Brenau to tie the score 24-24. However, the Lions won the final two points to take the set and then carry the momentum over into the third set.
In the third set, Brenau's Kayleigh Reece blocked a Bryan attack to cut the score to 23-22, but again the Lions scored the final two points to capture the victory.
Rachel Hodges led Brenau with eight kills, while Jordan Diaz added ten kills.
Brenau (1-12 overall, 1-4 AAC) next travels to face St. Andrews (N.C.) University (4-7 overall, 1-2 AAC) on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
