Volleyball Slips in Season Opener vs. Point University
Marietta, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team opened the season with a close 3-2 loss (25-15, 24-26, 25-21, 29-31, 10-15) against Point (Ga.) University in a non-conference matchup on Friday.
After rolling through the opening set 25-15, Point responded with a narrow 24-26 win in the second set. The Golden Tigers answered with a third set 25-21 win, but came up short in the fourth set at 31-29.
In the fifth set, Point started fast with a 4-0 lead and held off a late run to win the set 15-10 and clinch the victory.
Senior Mary Ellen Enright led the Golden Tigers with 15 kills, while junior Malone Davis added 13 kills. Senior Chloe Bennett added 12 kills and freshman Natalie Wilhoit posted 9 kills.
Senior setter Gabrielle Hogle had 33 assists and senior libero Madison Brock added a team-high 27 digs.
Brenau (0-1 overall) returns to the Running Eagles Classic on Saturday with matches against Lindsey Wilson at 11 am and host Life University at 1 pm eastern.
