Volleyball Defeats Union, Johnson in AAC Play
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team won a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference matches with wins over Union (Ky) and Johnson (Tenn.) this past weekend.
Brenau blanked Union 3-0 (25-22, 29-27, 25-17) as senior Mary Ellen Enright and junior Malone Davis led the attack with 12 kills each. Freshman Natalie Wilhoit added 11 kills and senior Chloe Bennett posted eight kills. Defensively, sophomore Ashlyn Browning and freshman Nathalia Quintero added seven digs each.
Against Johnson, the Golden Tigers won the first two sets, but the visiting Royals won the third set 25-22. Brenau responded with a 25-17 fourth set to take the win 3-1.
Davis posted a season-best 18 kills, while Enright added 10 kills. Freshman Jomaris Maldonado added 15 digs and Browning chipped in 10 digs. Setters Gabrielle Hogle and Nathalia Quintero combined for 50 assists.
Brenau (11-16 overall, 9-10 AAC) closes out the regular season with a trip to Truett McConnell (Ga) (22-10 overall, 14-5 AAC) in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup at 6:30 pm on Tuesday.
