Tiger Runners Excel at Royal Challenge

Charlotte, NC. - On Friday, October 15th, the Brenau Cross Country team traveled to Charlotte, NC to compete at the Royal Challenge meet. In a competitive field, the Golden Tigers placed 5th out of 13 teams. The girls had some outstanding individual performances, producing a team average of 21:21. Audra Cochran continues to lead the tigers with a strong finish of 20:27, followed by freshman Ana Lopera (20:40). Both girls recorded new personal records for the school. Maria Gonzalez was close behind with a season-best time of 21:06. Rounding up the top five were Regina Ogechi (21:59) and Monica Muchene (22:33). The team also had strong finishes by Shkurte Ejupi (24:02), Fatima Talavera (26:46), and our newest addition to the cross country team, Ashley Tolland (27:08). Coach Charlie was impressed with the team's performance, stating "I think that the work the team has put in over the last several weeks has really paid off today. It was a great team effort in reducing their average team time and included some significant improvements by some individual team members." Coach McIntyre added, "I think our first trip to Charlotte was a great confidence builder for the team. I am looking forward to our performance in Gulf Port at the conference meet on November 6th."
