Cross Country Finishes 2nd at Jaguar Classic
After last week's strong showing at the North Georgia Invitational, the Brenau Golden Tigers cross country team continued to place well with a 2nd place finish at the Jaguar Invitational 6K race at Augusta State University.
Junior Brittany Aikens (Braselton, GA) finished 4th out of 51 runners with a time of 25:37. Freshman Tori Mullinax (Gainesville, GA) continued her strong freshman campaign by placing 10th with a time of 27:13. Utami Ketchem (Flowery Branch, GA) finished 12th in 27:22, while Deishane' Honeycutt (Stone Mountain, GA) finished 17th with a time of 28:14. Tyana Luna (Lawrenceville, GA) rounded out Brenau's scoring runners with a 20th place finish in 28:49.
"Brittany [Aikens] had a great race on an unfamiliar course," said Coach Susan McIntyre. "Tori Mullinax fell at the 2.5 mile mark and rebounded to finish 10th".
Other finishers include Jasmine Ray 22nd place (22:31), Sarah Saenz 24th place (29:42), Ana Lopera 25th place, (29:49), Aunica Clinton 35th place (32:02), Monkia Nwajei 37th place (32:14) and Anazjah Mayes 40th place (32:43).
Brenau finished close behind 1st place finisher Young Harris College with a total team time of 2:17:17 and an average time of 27:27.
"This is the first time in the history of our program that we have competed in a 6K and the girls looked very strong'" said Coach McIntyre. " This race was a confidence builder for the team to see just how well our training is working for them.
The Golden Tigers next hit the ground running on September 28th when they travel to Central, SC to run the Warrior Invitational at Southern Wesleyan (SC) University.
