Cross Country Promotes Champions of Character Initiative
The Brenau Cross Country team promoted the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative to the community through two recent service projects.
The Champions of Character program promotes five core values- integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership- to encourage good decision making and the true spirit of competition.
The team spent an afternoon with the White County (Ga.) High School cross country team to help share the five core values with those team members. Freshman Kaitlyn Gearing, a former White County High School runner, also has two younger sisters currently on the high school team.
Most recently, the squad was featured in a safety video produced by the Hall County School System. The video was created to promote safety while running for students. The school system is prioritizing running clubs in the elementary and middle school levels. The video, entitled "Be Seen", emphasizes the use of bright colors and flashing lights to help visibility.
"We were excited to be a part of this video to promote safety among young runners in Hall County," said head coach Susan McIntyre.
Brenau Athletics is committed to the Champions of Character program and participates each year in a multitude of service projects.
