Cross Country Places Fourth at SSAC Championships
The Brenau cross country team finished fourth at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships in Clinton, Miss. on Thursday.
The team had a total time of 1:42.43 which as merely .14 seconds behind third place Auburn University-Montgomery.
Jasmine Ray led the Golden Tigers with an overall sixth place finish. The senior finished in 19:34.11 and qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 21st.
Fellow senior Deishane' Honeycutt ran a 20:03 to place 10th, while freshman Nia Griffin finished in 20:52 to place 23rd in her first conference championships.
Michelle Velazquez placed 28th in 21:06 and Tyana Luna rounded out the top five for the Golden Tigers, finishing in 29th place in 21:07.
Other finishers include Anazjah Mayes (44th place/23:10), Ismaelle Occeus (45th place/23:30) and Felicia Gordon (53rd place/25:49).
"I am very proud of all these ladies for their hard work that went into the season," said head coach Heather Estetter. "I'm looking forward to Nationals with Jasmine Ray as this is a great accomplishment."
