Cross Country Places Ninth at AAC Championships
Asheville, North Carolina- The Brenau cross country team placed ninth at the 2020 AAC Cross Country Championships hosted at Asheville Christian Academy this past weekend.
Junior Zoie Gardner paced the Golden Tigers with a time of 21:01.19 to place 24th place finish out of 81 total runners in the 5K race, while freshman Kiyah Pittman added a 36th place finish in 21:48.60.
Other Golden Tigers finishers include senior Bianca Braz, who placed 48th in 23:32.19, freshman Brionna Bierkamp, who came in 57th in 24:05.01, freshman Emily Martinez, who placed 76th in 27:41.74 and sophomore Paola Benitez-Hernandez, who finished 81st in 35:41.04.
The team raced to a total time of 1:58.08 and an average time of 23:37.75 at the championships.
Milligan (Tenn.) College took top honors with an average time of 1:33.40, while Montreat (N.C.) College (1:36.50) and Columbia (S.C.) College (1:46.14) rounded out the top three team finishers.
Milligan's Avery DeWolf won the individual title with a time of 18:02, while the Buffaloes took the top three spots for individual finishers.
