XC Places Fifth at UNG XC Night Classic
Gainesville, Georgia- The Golden Tigers cross-country team continued their strong start to the 2025 season with a 5th place finish at the UNG XC Night Classic (4K) hosted by the University of North Georgia on Friday evening.
Averie Akin again paced the Golden Tigers with a 2nd place finish in the 4K event. The Bethlehem, Ga. junior ran an 18:34 with an average mile time of 5:58 to place second overall out of 126 competitors.
Freshman De'Nya Reynolds also built off her strong start to the season with a 16th place finish in 19:43, while junior Victoria Woods placed just behind her teammate to earn 17th place in a time of 19:45.
Senior Ellie Kinlaw ran a solid race in 21:10 to place 46th, while teammates Kendall Goetzman (21:49/56th place), Gladys Blanco Choque (22:26/63rd place), and Leslie Cabrera (25:00/87th place) rounded out the Golden Tigers performers.
Overall, the squad had a total time of 1:41.04 and an average time of 20:12 to take 5th place out of 16 teams. NCAA D2 Georgia College took overall team honors with an average time of 19:19, while host UNG placed second. Covenant (Ga.) College and NCAA D1 Georgia State rounded out the top finishers.
