Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau soccer team fell to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Reinhardt (Ga.) University 2-1 in a competitive Appalachian Athletic Conference match on Wednesday.
The visiting Eagles (8-5-2 overall, 8-3-2 AAC) stunned the Golden Tigers' defense with an early goal as Julia Knight scored only three minutes into the match. However, the resilient home team answered just over six minutes later as junior Ryalie Acker beat Eagle keeper Reagan Horton for the equalizer.
Both teams battled to a stalemate throughout the remainder of the first half and into the second half until Reinhardt's Brooke Fairchild scored in the 52nd minute to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. The Golden Tigers had scoring opportunities throughout the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Brenau (7-7-1 overall, 5-6-1 AAC) wraps up the regular season on Saturday with a road conference match against Union Commonwealth (3-13 overall, 3-9 AAC) at 12 pm Eastern.
